The retailer was represented by Bruno Calfat Advogados in a public civil lawsuit filed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office of the State of Rio de Janeiro, which was heard by the 3rd Corporate Court of Rio de Janeiro, as well as in an appeal judged by the 3rd Panel of the Superior Court of Justice (STJ).
In the lawsuit, the Public Prosecutor sought, among other claims, to oblige the retailer to grant consumers a longer period to exchange products purchased at its retail stores.
In ruling on the appeal filed by the retailer, the 3rd Panel of the STJ reinstated the trial court’s decision, dismissing the claims brought by the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
