Bruno Calfat Advogados represented the Vice Governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro, in two Electoral Judicial Investigation Actions (AIJEs) filed by the Electoral Public Prosecutor’s Office and the losing candidate in the general election.
The plaintiffs alleged that the Vice Governor and other respondents had misused the purpose of the CEPERJ Foundation in an effort to promote the electoral interests of the then elected Governor and his political party, through the implementation and expansion of social programs during the 2022 state election year.
On May 23, 2024, the Regional Electoral Court of Rio de Janeiro ruled the claims unfounded, since there was no evidence to substantiate the alleged misconduct. As a result, the court rejected the requests made by the plaintiffs to annul the Vice Governor’s mandate, to declare him ineligible for office due to alleged abuse of political and economic power, and to impose a fine.
